These are photos of my craft that I do consider artwork in which the painting that was done some artist may consider that as the only art that is shown. But I consider all of my work as art even if they are just crafts.

Conclusion to My Essay on Craft

               In conclusion with the midst of answering my question of my whole essay of "Why is craft not considered art?" I have came to realize that everyone has their own opinion in this case. I have always throughout my essay stated that my craft is considered art to me and it may not to other artist. Yeah most craft are considered as just functional objects but there is more to this theory. What I plan to add to my artwork is maybe like metal present to go along with the theme. I would change too much because I feel that I did go into the direction that I wanted.I just did not has much time as I planned but I will be adding additional textures and like the presents that I stated that  will add. The process was actually not a hard process at all it was actually a little easy once getting started but I did run nto trouble. The thing is using a jewelers sawblade to cut out my shapes and also used a hammer to make rivets. Taking the class really had a toll on me which has made this my new craft. This art piece actually did go the way that I wanted as planned but like I stated I wish I had more time to add more to my artwork.

Essay Body

                Some may say that crafts are not considered artwork because most craft are considered functional in which drawings, paintings, or printmaking are just art to look at. The differences between crafts and what we call art such as paintings or sculptures is that craft are more as maybe wearable or used as functional like stated in the textbook.I think the similarites to me that may not be seen to others is that crafts to me are considered artwork. I consider my crafts in my eye as artwork which it may not be a drawing or painting. As stated in the book there was a situation in which it was said that "Perhaps the only meaningfil distinction we can draw between art and craft is this: If a work is primarily made to be used, it is craft, but if it is primarily made to be seen it is art." n whch I do disagree. Craft to me is considered art because there is some craft that one may make like I have made with metal a picture and the picture is not functional like it is not wearable. Metal is considered like in the textbook as a material used in craft but metal can made out of something in which you do not have to wear them. This is why I say iif like in the textbook or artist are going to consider art as only like sculpture, drawing, or paintings as only art then I disagree. If this is the case sculpture should be considered craft also. Some artist make sculptures which ends up being functional sometimes looks like ceramics but are sculptures which can be used. Now, in the textbook I do agree with this statement which is"In the hands of artist,however, these media can be employed to make objects that are not only of great beauty but that also must be appreciated as works of art in their own right.".The reason why I do agree with this statement because every artist think of their work differently. Like I stated before I may not be an artist as big as Josiah Wedgwood but I do consider my crafts that I do art becaise they can be functional sometimes but then they cou;d be shown as to just look at. The artwork that I chose is one of my metal pieces that I have made. It is actually a sheet of metal that has a story to it and this is an artwork that cannot be functional it is what you are able to just look at. I also chose this one cause it is what I consider art but other artist may not see this as art but I consider what is art n my eyes.My experience with my piece was an amaziing experience. It was actually my first time working with metal in my jewelry and metalsmithing class which most would consider as a craft. So being able to work with the material of metal amazed me because you would never think of the things that you could do with metal.This is why I tied this to my essay because using this material has made an impact on me to where I enjoy working with it and now I can see that I am able to make art which I will call my artwork.If my piece that  made coul speak, I think that it would say "Look at me I am art arent I because you are actually rght there staring at me right now. Since what others call art just to be seen that is what I am and I am beautiful!".I would want more work to be bigger and extravagant. I just love big but for it to be my first time working with metal I think I did do a great job.

Literature Review for The Crafts as Fine Art

The reference I used was a craft book and I did decide to also use an encyclopedia. Both books actually worked for me and I just decided to use them. The key terms that I will use are crafts, artwork,art, and I will also use many other key terms in which to describe in terms of my metal work. The references that I have chose I think will help my essay because they will give the information and the help in order to get a better understanding into understand craft even though I do craft myself.I think that I could get the inside on craft and its properties. The images that I will use I am actually working on 2 metal projects that will be posted. I will also pull up at least 3 more images on different types of mediums which are crafts.The artworks I think I will use as of right now will maybe be my own because I think I could better understand and able to explain because i consider my work as art. I also, think that I could better relate and explain my metal pieces. The medium I chose is lke stated before that I will analyze more is metal.

Introduction to The Crafts as Fine Art

The question I want to explore is: Why can't craft be defined as art as well as artwork is defined as art? The topics that will help me in part of my essay are each topics in the chapter which are the different mediums used in craft. I am choosing these topics because I will be able to explore the different mediums of crafts and understand why craft is not defined as art in a sense that artwork is art. From reading in my book about this subject the most interesting part of why I chose this was because being able go n depth of the different mediums used in crafts and understanding why that craft is not defined as art. I actually do crafts myself and I consider my crafts as art so being able to know why its not art will help me. The additional refrence I will use will be a an encyclopedia on craft or either a craft book in which I posses. The kinds of artwork that will be relevant to my essay are maybe pictures of different crafts itself. They will be relevant to me because I will be able to maybe explain of why craft should be defined as art.The medium I am going to choose to use to show my craft will be metal. I have worked with different types of material but metal really interest me a lot more because of different it was for me to work with metal.
